Massage appointments

Woven offers therapeutic massage for pregnant and postpartum parents, from our Albany location.

I have been practicing massage for almost 20 years, working primarily with clients during pregnancy and the postpartum period. I like to individualize treatments for each specific client, combining the different styles I trained in (Swedish, sports, and shiatsu) with pregnancy-specific training.

As a lactation consultant, I specialize in therapeutic breast massage to support lactation. Massage can be effective as part of a treatment plan for managing complications such as blocked ducts, engorgement, and mastitis.

I originally certified with the 720-hour course at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, and attended Kate Jordan’s advanced certification in "Bodywork for the Childbearing Year®" in 2004.

Testimonials

Laura Howells is an amazing massage therapist. I've had a lot of massages and hers leave me feeling like jello. I went in with low back pain and she was able to give me a focused treatment that not only relieved my pain, but also addressed the long-standing tension in my neck and shoulders. Her touch is gentle enough to be relaxing and firm enough to be therapeutic. Her rhythmic pace will allow you to drop into a peaceful, almost mediative state. I have to remind myself stay awake so I didn't miss anything! If you want a massage to relieve pain and tension, or you just need a relaxing get away, I highly recommend making an appointment with Laura.

Oh. My. Goodness! Ok, first off, know that I am a birth doula myself and your body takes a beating in this line of work, for sure. I started seeing Laura to help me with a chronic problem I have stemming from a 7 year ago severely sprained ankle that has really thrown the right side of my body out of whack. She gets into places I have never had another massage therapist approach and her touch is so deeply therapeutic that I feel like I have a new body when I get off her table. AND SHE EVEN DOES HOUSE VISITS!! Seriously, I'm picky, and I am happy to sing her praises any day. I highly recommend her services to everyone, but especially if you are pregnant! Growing a baby is hard work!
